PDPC Photo Outings

PDPC Photo Outings (formerly known as “Your Focus”)  provides an opportunity for every PDPC member to improve his/her photography skills and photographic eye.

Our goal is to have a PDPC Photo Outing each month of the club season. All club members are welcome and encouraged to participate, whatever your photographic level.

Participants in the PDPC Photo Outings are asked to provide a few images from each outing to share at a following regular club meeting following the outing. A show is produced from the submitted images (with photographer credits) and members can ask questions about the images as time allows.  In this way, all members are introduced to a wide range of  photographic possibilities, styles and vision.

The goal of our series is to create insights on how each of us has a different vision as a photographer and how we can come up with such a variety of compelling images in the same setting.

Past outings have included: Steveston, Gulf of Georgia Cannery; the area around Science World; Harrison Mills; Harkin Tugboat Towing in Port Coquitlam; Reifel Bird Sanctuary; Granville Island; Fort Langley Historic Site; Chinese New Year Parade and flower photography at Van Duesen Gardens.

Members are reminded by broadcast email approximately two weeks before each outing and registration, which is free to members, is required. Where an outing takes place with an entry fee, members are responsible for the fee. These outings are provided solely for the convenience of the members and the Pacific Digital Photography Club and/or volunteers are not responsible for any loss, injury, inconvenience or disappointing images.

Since there is no such thing as bad weather in photography, the photography outings will go as planned (unless it is unsafe to get to the location). Photography instruction is not provided on the outings, however many members are happy to share their knowledge.

Sometimes participants meet up for coffee or dinner after the outings.
