Club Meeting – via Zoom
Wednesday, February 10th, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Please join on Wednesday, February 10 for a Zoom club meeting. Garry Johns will be presenting for Take 5 and Curtis Kreklau. Curtis is a freelance news/videographer. He will be telling us what it’s like to be a breaking news “shooter”. He will be talking to us about the equipment you need, how to get to a scene, how to manage people, the decisions you need to make considering there are lives at stake and much more. Curtis owns the South Fraser News Service.
Curtis began his interest early in high school with aviation photography. He then grew an interest in emergency services and radio scanning after high school and soon after began freelance news photography. News photography then progressed and evolved into news videography as DSLR cameras began to offer HD video. After 15 years, the breaking news business locally experienced the introduction of encrypted radio transmissions. This has required diversification and ingenuity in methods of gathering news tips, generating content and even just managing to find the news when it is happening.
The meeting will start at 7:30 PM however the “Waiting Room” will be open at 7:00 PM for any members who would like to connect early and have an opportunity to visit with fellow members. Guests are always welcome. If you would like to join us as a guest send an email to: firstname.lastname@example.org A link and connection information will be emailed to all members and guests a day prior to the meeting.
