After a 2 year absence due to Covid19 we are pleased to announce we will be back in the Drama Room at the Port Moody Secondary School.
Wendell Phillips will be our special guest presenter at tonight’s meeting. Wendell is a Vancouver based photographer with 38 years of experience in editorial and art photography. He has been the recipient of 31 Picture-of-the-Year awards from North American news organizations as well as winner of two National Magazine Awards.
The Photographic Society of America honored Wendell with the International Understanding through Photography Award recognizing his socially engaged documentaries. Phillips has chronicled the diversity of the human condition in 85 countries. His work has been exhibited at the Center for Photographic Art in Carmel, California, the Galerie Clairefontaine Espace 1 in Luxembourg, Los Angeles Center for Photography, and the United Nations in New York City. His images have been featured with the New York Times, Washington Post, BBC World News, Los Angeles Times, The Guardian, South China Morning Post, and The Atlantic.
Wendell Phillips has covered assignments in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Palestine in addition to imbeds with NATO in Kosovo a well as with Sandinista Soldiers in the active war zone of the Nicaraguan war in 1986 and 1988.
At this meeting the primary theme of Wendell’s presentation will be street photography with some social documentary.
